Myint Soe identifies himself as an artist since he was a child. A largely self-taught artist, he has a psychology degree from the University of Yangon. He constantly challenges himself and experiments with a variety of styles. His artwork often reflect his desire to see freedom of expression and reforms in Myanmar. Most of his work in 2015 focused on the need for education reforms in Myanmar. In an extraordinary piece “10:10” exhibited at “Burma by Proxy: Art at the Dawn of Democracy” in Hong Kong, he paid tribute to the March 2015 student protests for education reform and commemorated the exact time the security forces cracked down the students’ march to Yangon. Myint Soe also creates installation art, exploring the themes of social, political and environmental issues in Myanmar. He is a strong advocate for education and provides free education for needy young people.
