Born to a family of artists, Kyi Hlaing Aung’s interest in art was evident at a very young age as he drew pictures using charcoal and chalk on every available surface at home. He embarked on his professional career in 1990, specialising in portraits. In 1996, he opened an art gallery with his brother, Artist Kaung Paing, and to date has exhibited extensively in Myanmar and in Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia. His works are collected by the Sitagu International Buddhist Academy and the Embassy of the United States in Myanmar.
